maybe someone would pick the kiss option if you made it a hug and a kiss instead. why would you want to give up a perfectly good hug just to touch lips with someone?

Nope, it's just something I've said since I was about six. It's been thirty years since then. I was a local legend in my town when I got a little older so I reckon the phrase got around from there.
